BLOG TOUR and GIVEAWAY: Dead Running/Dying to Run by Cami Checketts

Dead Running (See my review here).

Cassidy Christensen is running.

Running from the mercenaries who killed her parents.

Running from a scheming redhead intent on making her life miserable.

Running from painful memories that sabotage her dreams of happiness.

With two very tempting men competing for her attention, she hopes she'll finally have someone to run to, but can she trust either of them?

When secrets from her past threaten her family, Cassidy decides to stop running and fight for her future.

Cassidy Christensen wants to run.

Captured by the traffickers who killed her mother, her only hope is Dr. Tattoo, a man she loves but nobody trusts. When she finally gets a chance to run, someone else she cares about is taken. Running might be her only chance at survival, but she won’t allow another family member to be killed in her place.

This must-read sequel to Dead Running will have you laughing, biting your nails, and hoping for more.

REVIEW

After reading Dead Running, I was looking forward to reading the sequel, Dying the Run. And wow, I was not disappointed.  The novella starts with a bang, literally, and doesn't let up to the end. You will want to read Dead Running first though otherwise you won't know what is going on or why Cassidy is in such danger to begin with. One thing that I enjoy about Checkett's books is that her characters and story have depth.  Not only are they romantic thrillers (clean ones) but the issues being dealt with are heavy ones.  Human trafficking, is murder ever justified, etc. What is one willing to do to save the innocent? Jesse and Cassidy must face those questions in this short story. If you like romantic suspense filled with ethical and personal dilemmas, I highly recommend this series.  Note: because of the issues involved there is quite a bit of violence and an attempted rape.

GUEST POST--If you could go anywhere, where would you go and what would you do?

I would stuff my suitcase full of treats, clothes, and books and fly to Roatan, Honduras. It is a beautiful vacation spot where we have spent time on the beaches – swimming, snorkeling, getting massages, and buying dozens of bracelets from the darling little girls. I would love to spend a few weeks there – volunteering at the orphanages and trying to help some of those sweet children.
On our last visit to Honduras my heart was broken twice. The first time we were driving across the island and two young boys ran out into the road with shovels and a bucket full of dirt. They patched up some holes in the road then held out their hands for money. They looked about 8 and 10 and made me think of my little boys. After we paid their fare we asked why they weren’t in school. Nobody (including our driver) would give us a satisfactory answer. It made me sick to think of boys close to my sons’ ages who were doing all they could to earn a few dollars instead of attending school and being carefree young boys. The other time my heart broke was when a beautiful three-year old girl sold me some bracelets. I wanted to steal her and take her home. I asked where her mother was. Her older sister said their mother was at home. Can you imagine? Sending your preschooler to sell bracelets to a bunch of tourists with no more protection than a six-year old?
So if money wasn’t an option, I’d try to do something to help those children get to school and have enough money so they could be safe with their families. Plus, I’d enjoy the beautiful island!
