BLOG TOUR w/ GIVEAWAY: A Tangled Inheritance by Chalon Linton

ABOUT THE BOOK

Nora Ellsworth, darling of London society, has her choice of eligible suitors, but since childhood, she has been expected to marry Jonathan Browning, a gentleman whose wealth and stability will someday secure the futures of Nora and her mother and sister. The family estate will pass to an odious male cousin upon the death of Nora's father, and when he suddenly takes ill, her need to marry well becomes vitally important.

As Nora struggles with the idea of marrying without love, she finds herself increasingly drawn to Devlin Fausett, a man with dark eyes and intriguing conversation. But Devlin's reputation as an indebted gambler is difficult to ignore. Despite rumors from the ton and the marriage decision before her, Nora is determined to befriend the dashing Mr. Fausett, and his charms soon make it all but impossible for her to remember her duty. Until she learns the truth of her fortune. There is a way to keep her family's estate, but the price is high: Nora must wed as soon as possible. Torn between two very different men, she must make the ultimate decision. Will she be guided by her head or her heart?

REVIEW

I enjoyed this book quite a bit.  Mr. Fausett and Nora are both quite sympathetic, likable characters.  Nora is a bright, cheerful sort of person, who dearly loves her family, but wants a husband who doesn't mind talking about subjects other than fashion and the Ton.  She's quite shocked when she discovers just how desperately her family needs her to marry.  And her parents choice is Jonathan Browning, a young man she likes, but isn't so sure she can love.

Mr. Devlin Fausett is a pleasant, kind man with a gambling addiction.  He really likes Nora but knows that his bad habits and debts make him an unworthy choice for her.  But he can't help taking advantage of her friendship when she offers her help in overcoming his addiction.

A sweet love builds as Devlin and Nora start as friends and slowly become more than that.  Nora's troubles with her sick sister and desperate parents combine with Devlin's gambling struggles to create a believable set of circumstances.

BLOG TOUR w/ GIVEAWAY: a familiar fear by Kathi Oram Peterson

ABOUT THE BOOK

Ex-FBI agent Riley Scott lives each day with the scars of her former career. After the murder of her husband and the recent attempt on her own life by the Russian mafia, her heart is irrevocably broken. Agate Island seems like the perfect place to begin building a new future for herself and her teenage son, yet even before the ferry docks at their new home, Riley realizes there will be no escape for her. There, on the boat, is mafia boss Maksimillian Petruso—the man who took everything from her. The man she killed.

Matthew Taggart knows who Riley is and understands her reaction to his resemblance to Maksimillian Petruso. But Matthew is nothing like his estranged criminal father. So far, he has been able to hide from that evil world. However, he's afraid Riley's appearance on the island may lead his family's mafia connections to his doorstep. After all, she is the agent who took down his father. Matthew needs to leave town. Fast. Unfortunately, when the family wants to find him, there is nowhere he can hide. Now he and Riley are thrown together in a dangerous connection, and learning to trust each other is their only hope of survival.

REVIEW

This romantic suspense has a rather unusual twist to it.  When Riley Scott, former FBI agent, arrives on Agate Island looking to build a new future for herself and her son, the last person she expects to see is Maksimilian Petruso, the Russian mobster that murdered her husband and nearly took her own life.  Especially since she already killed him.  Turns out Matthew Taggart is Petruso's son and has been hiding from the rest of the family for years.  Unfortunately, being so close to each other doesn't work out well for either one.  Only by working together can they find a way to defeat the crime family and save themselves and their children.  This suspenseful novel is full of twists and turns, not all of which are unexpected.  Still, the book contains plenty of tension both life-threatening and romantic.

TREK Movie Trailer Spotlight and GIVEAWAY!

TREK the MOVIE TRAILER!

MOVIE SYNOPSIS:

Written by Hollywood screenwriter David Howard and Jon Enos, and directed by Alan Peterson, TREK is a family comedy that follows a group of LDS teens as they stumble their way through the sagebrush looking for their pioneer heritage as well as their own testimonies.

Watch as Tom, a young Mormon teenager and his friends try to smuggle in unsanctioned food, battle sibling rivalry, encounter a “special ops” Young Mens leader, ponder doctrinal brain teasers, and match wits with a Twinkie-loving skunk.  Through all of the ups and downs, they are revealed to be “real” LDS youth who are struggling with real challenges—doubts, divorce, relationships.  When they encounter unexpected trouble, their faith is tested much like their pioneer ancestors.
