BLOG TOUR w/ GIVEAWAY: Now and Always Yours by Anita Stansfield

ABOUT THE BOOK

Greg's feet suddenly became very heavy and his head very light as he stood and watched the opening of the bars that had kept him separated from the world .... If not for the knowledge that his sister would be waiting outside to take him home—and that he had two children at home waiting for him—he might have preferred to turn around and ask to stay.

And so begins a new chapter in Greg's life, which includes the daunting tasks of earning the trust and respect of his teen-aged children, finding meaningful employment in a society that doesn't always take kindly to those who have "served time," and daring to believe in love, with its miracles of healing and forgiveness. And Greg has no illusions about conquering these hurdles. However, with the support of a devoted sister and her extended family and the unexpected gift of a uniquely charming and brave woman's love ... it all just might happen.

In this utterly captivating novel, bestselling author Anita Stansfield achieves a satisfying balance of romance, humor, and deep glances into the human heart and soul. It is a story that resonates with emotional truths that will linger long after the last page is turned.

REVIEW

This follow-up to Legally and Lawfully Yours, focuses on Shannon's brother, Greg, as he struggles to assimilate back into mainstream life after his years in jail.  While he is a changed man, he faces great uncertainty in terms of finding a job, trying to father his children, and deciding what to do with the rest of his life.  When he meets Celia, his sister's legal assistant, his world starts looking up, but he's not at all sure that he's got much to offer her.  One of the things that I love about Anita Stansfield's books is how real the characters feel, along with their problems.  It feels like they could just step right out of the story into the real world.  This makes reading her books an emotional journey, and this one is no different.

COVER REVEAL w/ GIVEAWAY: Proposals and Poison by Rachelle J. Christensen

Proposals and Poison
PROPOSALS AND POISON
Wedding Planner Mysteries book #3
Rachelle J. Christensen

“Cozy mystery meets romantic comedy in this fabulous, fast-paced story.” Cami Checketts author of The Resilient One, A Billionaire Bride Pact Romance

Love can be a very dangerous thing. At least it seems that way to Adri Pyper, the premier wedding planner in Sun Valley, Idaho. When one of her clients dies mysteriously, Adri takes the advice of the local detective and swears she will stay out of the investigation . . . this time. Luke Stetson's involvement in the case, along with the possibility of a kiss between the two, should be enough incentive to keep Adri out of trouble. But when a dog-themed wedding is almost ruined by a suspect, Adri and her assistant, Lorea, are thrust into private eye mode. When poison enters the picture, even a reluctant sleuth can’t steer clear of danger.

“Packed with danger and romance, intrigue and entertainment, Rachelle Christensen's Wedding Planner series is romantic suspense that will keep you turning pages late into the night!” --Maria Hoagland, Author of The ReModel Marriage (Romance Renovations series)

“Mystery, suspense, murder and romance all intriguingly tied together in one very fun walk-down-the-aisle cozy mystery!”—Shauna Wheelwright, reviewer

“I love a great mystery that keeps my interest and keeps the pages turning. I loved the Hawaiian setting, that was a character on its own. As the story progressed, I enjoyed where the author went with the mystery, doing a perfect job of planting the right amount of seeds to try to throw me off the trail of who the killer was.”—Mindy Holt, reviewer

BLOG TOUR & Giveaway: The Spider and The Sparrow by A.L. Sowards

ABOUT THE BOOK

May 1915. After tragedy strikes during the Second Battle of Artois, Frenchman Julian Olivier will do anything to get out of the trenches. So when British Intelligence recruits him to spy behind enemy lines, he jumps at the opportunity. Just before he begins, however, he has a chance encounter with a young French woman who leaves his heart marked for the remainder of the war—even if he doesn't know her name.

Warren Flynn is a Canadian airborne hero, and dogfights with the Germans are all in a day's work. Second only to his love of flying is his fascination with Claire Donovan, the daughter of an American munition manufacturer living in Paris. Warren flies Julian into Germany and soon receives orders to post the Allies' newest operative—an attractive peasant woman named Evette—in Claire's home.

As a dangerous ring of spies and saboteurs threatens to turn the war against the Allies, Julian discovers goodness in his enemies' hearts. But even if he survives, will he ever be reunited with the woman whose memory he can't erase? Will Warren survive the war, and will Evette unearth the infiltrator in her own territory before it's too late?

REVIEW

After several books looking at the life of spies during World War II, Sowards goes back even farther to tackle spying during World War I.  As in all her books, the author takes the reader right down into the nitty-gritty details of the war, both the good and the bad.  The four main characters all face major challenges as they struggle to not only survive but maintain the relationships that are important to them.  Other than all the details, the other thing that I really appreciate about Sowards books is the look at both sides.  The dangers of war, both physical and emotional as well as ethical and moral come shining through, giving the reader something to think about long after the book is read.

BLOG TOUR w/ GIVEAWAY: Star Struck by Kathi Oram Peterson

ABOUT THE BOOK

Mercedes Grant is known to the world as Stormy Ryan, action hero. Her movie-star status has led to some unpleasant interactions in the past, and even a few stalkers, but none has ever come close enough to her to seem dangerous—until now. When she receives a death threat on her personal cell phone, she is understandably shaken. Seizing the opportunity to take some time away from the limelight while the police investigate the phone call, Mercedes escapes to her remote cabin near Idaho’s Snake River. She knows it is the perfect place to lie low, but she doesn’t realize how low she’ll actually feel once she arrives. After days of suffering from a cold she just can’t shake, Mercedes visits the town physician, Luke Parker. The handsome doctor, a fan of the stunning celebrity, performs the necessary tests and is devastated at the unexpected diagnosis he must give her. Mercedes is sick—really sick. He knows she can handle crazy fans, but the news he has to give is another story. As Mercedes struggles to come to terms with her new future, she relies on Luke’s support. But neither imagines the disease is not the only danger Mercedes is facing—because just out of view, someone is watching her and is determined to make good on their threat.

REVIEW

This sort of book always intrigues me a bit, because the main character comes from a world so vastly different than my own.  Mercedes comes from a world of fame and fortune and that goes with it both good and bad.  But fame and fortune can't stave off disease and when Mercedes discovers just how sick she really is, it really throws her off.  Luckily, the doctor who gave her the bad news is a nice guy whose willing to support her efforts to adapt to her changing reality.  The addition of a crazed stalker complicates everything to the nth degree.  I can easily recommend this book if you enjoy thoughtful, romantic suspense.
